A Tradition of Excellence Since 1896

COMPANY HISTORY

Siskiyou Telephone was incorporated in 1896. A.B. Carlock served as the first President of the Company. Initially, service was available to residents of Scott Valley. As lines were constructed before the turn of the century, service included Sawyers Bar and Forks of Salmon. In the early 1900's, service was expanded to Plowmans Valley and the Klamath River area as far down river as Orleans.

In the late 1950's, the Company found it faced very serious problems with its 2,256 square mile service area, and the obsolescence of its facilities. The 1955 flood dealt a deathly blow to its aging plant. How could a small, independent telephone company raise that kind of capital to modernize its entire facility?
